REMEMBERING BERT STERN 1929 - 2013

Melina Mercouri

Christian Dior-New York

"The Melina Mercouri laugh - a quick intelligent flash of flesh-and-blood amusement; no tricks no bitter undertones."

"In the teeth of Vogue's snowstorm, Melina Mercouri posed to the music of Greek records she brought with her to the studio (sad, but stimulating), tossed back errant flakes at the photographer, saying good-naturedly, '"He wants to kill me, this man."'

REMEMBERING CHRISTMAS PAST - ELSA MARTINELLI 1962

THE GALA HEAD
ELSA MARTINELLI

Halston's Sable tails on Elsa Martinelli - one of the ways charming heads are being splashed with more charm now. Recently co-starring with Orson Welles in The Trial, based on the Kafka novel, Miss Martinelli is currently working on Ramage, in which she safaris in the Malayan jungle - a long jump from Rome, where she lives now, and from the day, in 1953, when she arrived for her first visit to the United States with twenty dollars and no English.
