The model is gazing into the future wearing a jacket of sapphire paillettes made by Maggy Rouff and an Agnes hat of pale blue Paradise.

The future is fifteen years later, the model, not unlike her in figure and allure, takes her place under Bazaar's Paris studio lights in the summer of 1950 with a remarkably similar feathered hat made by Paulette.

The hat designer, a name unknown in fashion fifteen years ago - the photographer, Richard Avedon, was then only a child of eleven.
